I live in semi-rural southeastern Louisiana with my wife De and our dog Loki on her parents incredible seven-acre property. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
We lived in Oregon from 2017 to 2020 and that is where my love of nature was reignited, starting with birds, growing quickly once I started daily visits to our local park Iwetemlaykin, and then exploding once I started using iNaturalist in late 2019. It was there that I also began a Zen Buddhist practice, and completed my Jukai ceremony in May 2022 at Shasta Abbey.
I received my Louisiana Master Naturalist certification in the Fall of 2022 and have had the property where we live certified with the Louisiana Native Plant Society's Certified Habitat Program.
I am a web developer by trade and have been working on the Internet in some form since building my first website in early 1995.
I'm also singer/songwriter, and released a record with my band Handsome Machines — ELIZA — in 2015. From 2008 to 2016 I hosted a weekly open mic night at a local coffee shop in Baton Rouge.
